Zambia’s Zesco United continued to fly high in the Caf Confederation Cup and reached the playoff stage after drawing 2-2 away to Les Messager Ngozi of Burundi to win 4-2 on aggregate over two legs.

Zesco United set a high bar for themselves last year after having reached the semifinals of the Champions League.

Ngozi had seemed set to launch a credible fightback when in the 49th minute they were put ahead by Emock Sabumukana, but the lead lasted only 13 minutes as Jackson Were responded for the Zesco United to level matters.

Abdoul Amini restored the lead for Ngozi in the 73rd minute but David Owino made sure of Zesco’s progression by taking the score to 2-2 in the 90th minute.

Zesco had made good of their home tie having won 2-0, easing the task away from home.

Zesco United will have to wait for the draw to find out who their next opponents will be.
