It will take something akin to a miracle for Ghana to book a 2018 World Cup ticket, and Avram Grant is solely to blame.
That is according to Ghana Football Association Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei Kwaku, popularly called 'Palmer'. He believes the previous Black Stars coach must shoulder the blame for the team's current situation where Ghana lie third in the group.
The four-time African champions have lost one - against Egypt - and drawn at home with Uganda, leaving them with just a slim chance of making it. “I can tell you, the job of the next Black Stars coach will be very, very challenging because of the situation Avram Grant has put us through,” Osei told Atinka FM in Accra.
“He has jeopardised our World Cup chances and it will be difficult for any coach who takes over the Black Stars to be able to navigate his way through,” he said.
Ghana had been looking to lift up their spirits with a possible Afcon win, but that too ended in failure as they could only make yet another semifinal berth - their sixth in a row.
