The draw of the MTN8 semifinals conducted at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday produced some exciting clashes, with one in particular pitting the student against his former teacher.

Defending champions Bidvest Wits, who beat Golden Arrows in an ill-tempered match, continue their title-defence away to Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City, who will be facing his mentor Gavin Hunt, who coached him at Seven Stars in the 90s.

SuperSport United, who eliminated Kaizer Chiefs, have a tricky match against Fadlu Davids’ Maritzburg United after The Team of Choice booked their ticket in the last four by knocking out last season’s finalists, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The semis are played over two legs, with the first set for 26 & 27 August and the return legs will take place on the weekend of September 9.
